DL for ABE Learners

Distance Learning for ABE instruction has many different models across the country. Some programs use online or computer-aided instruction with students having no contact with an instructor or other learners. Some employ a video-based curriculum where instructors have close contact with learners.

Several commercially produced DL curricula are being licensed to DOE-funded programs in the state. These are products developed specifically for adults. Among the available resources are: TV411 (pre-GED), Crossroads Cafe' (high-beginning and intermediate ESOL), Workplace Essential Skills (GED).

DL for Professional Development

DL methods and mediums may also be used in professional development. Videoconferencing, Discussion Boards and Electronic Lists are just some of the tools that can be used for professional development.
